Breaking 100: Golf Tips for Beginners to Improve your Game

Are you one of those people who just can’t seem to break 100? Well, there’s hope for you yet! With these golf tips, you’ll be able to shave strokes off your game and finally break that century mark.

We’re going to cover 4 areas to focus on in an effort to do this:

  • Analyzing Your Game
  • Grip
  • Stance
  • Swing

Analyzing Your Game

If you want to start breaking 100, the first thing you need to do is analyze your game. What are your strengths and weaknesses? Once you know this, you can start working on improving the areas that need work.

One of the best ways to analyze your game is to keep a scorecard. Every time you play, make a note of how many strokes it took you to complete each hole. At the end of the round, add up your total and see where you need improvement.

Another way to analyze your game is to get a lesson from a professional golf instructor. They’ll be able to watch your swing and help you identify any flaws. Then, they can give you specific exercises and drills to help correct those flaws.

Grip

One of the biggest problems beginners have is their grip. Make sure you’re holding the club correctly in your hands; if you’re not, it will be very difficult to make solid contact with the ball.

There are a few different ways to grip a golf club. The most common is the overlap grip, where the pinky finger on your trail hand overlaps the index finger on your lead hand. Another option is the interlock grip, where the pinky and index fingers on both hands interlock. And finally, there’s the 10-finger grip, which is also known as the baseball grip. This is where all 10 fingers are wrapped around the club.

Experiment with all three of these grips and see which one feels the most comfortable for you. It’s also a good idea to ask a professional golf instructor for their opinion.

Stance

Another area that many people need help with is their stance. Again, make sure you’re standing in the correct position; if you’re not, you’ll likely slice or hook the ball.

There are two main types of stances in golf: the open stance and the closed stance. An open stance is when your feet are positioned so that they point slightly away from the target. This can help you avoid slicing the ball. A closed stance is when your feet are positioned so that they point directly at the target. This can help you avoid hooking the ball.

Most golfers have a natural tendency to slice the ball, so an open stance is often the best option. But experiment with both and see what works best for you.

Swing

Once you have your grip and stance corrected, you can start working on your swing. Remember to keep your eye on the ball and follow through with your swing. A good way to practice this is to set up a bucket of balls at the driving range and hit them one after the other. Focus on making each swing smooth and consistent.

Another important aspect of your swing is club selection. Make sure you’re using the right club for each shot. If you’re unsure, ask a professional golf instructor for help.

If you can master these basic golf tips, you’ll be well on your way to breaking 100! Just remember to keep practicing and don’t get discouraged if you don’t see results immediately. With a little time and effort, you’ll be playing like a pro in no time.
