The 2022 Cadence Bank Houston Open Preview and Odds
The penultimate PGA Tour event of 2022 will commence on Thursday with the 2022 Cadence Bank Houston Open at the renowned Memorial Park golf course. This marks the inaugural tournament of five in Texas on the PGA Tour schedule for the 2022-23 season. In the preceding year’s competition, Jason Kokrak emerged victorious, recording a scintillating 10 under par for the tournament to triumph by a margin of two strokes over Kevin Tway and Scottie Scheffler. Dallas native Scottie Scheffler will aspire to secure his second PGA Tour victory in his home state. There are no other players ranked within the Top 10 who present a formidable challenge to Scheffler’s potential victory this week.
However, there are two other players in the top 15 joining Scheffler this week Tony Finau and Sam Burns. A win this week could put Scheffler back in the No. 1 spot in the OWGR.
The Cadence Bank Houston Open has a total purse of $8.4 million, with $1.5 million being paid to the winner.
Television: Thursday-Sunday, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. ET. (Golf Channel)

2022 CADENCE BANK HOUSTON OPEN – PICKS
Taylor Pendrith (+5000)
He started well last summer but didn’t play again until the end of the regular season because of injuries. It took him a while to get back into form, but he ended up performing well at the end of the year.
He hasn’t been able to sustain his momentum from last year, but he’s a guy who I think has the potential to be a solid pick.
Sam Burns (+330)
Burns loves Memorial Park Golf Course, he has placed well in both of the last two years. He tied for 7th at the CJ Cup, his most recent tournament played. In his only other start this season, he finished 30th.
Joel Dahmen +4100
Joel Dahmen is currently in great form, and we’re backing him for another top-10 finish at the Houston Open.
After a missed cut in the first event of the season, Dahmen has finished no worse than 37th in four stats since. This includes a 3rd and 13th place finish.
That 3rd place finish came last week at the World Wide Technology Championship. He had rounds of 68, 67, 66, and 65, getting better each round.
Hideki Matsuyama (+2000)
Matsuyama came close to winning the Houston Open two years ago, the first and only time he played this event. He tied for 2nd and then took last year off. He hasn’t done particularly well this season, finishing between 25th and 40th in the 3 tournaments he’s played in. His odds reflect that, and he is still a great golfer so I have some faith for a turnaround this week.
